Report Water Problems to DWSD with Improve Detroit (powered by SeeClickFix)

“Improve Detroit” Mobile App

Have you seen running water in a vacant home or building? Do you know of a water main break or a leaking fire hydrant? Now you can report it to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department (DWSD) from your smartphone, tablet, or computer using the Improve Detroit mobile app.

Thanks to the City of Detroit’s partnership with SeeClickFix, we have an app you can use to report water-related issues to DWSD. You have the option to upload a photo with each report as a visual aid to help communicate the problem. Our Field Services staff will receive the reports and provide solutions.

Report an Issue using the Mobile App

Improve Detroit is available for download as an app for the Apple and Android platforms. Download the app by clicking the appropriate link for your device (below) or by scanning the QR code (which requires you download a QR code reader first).

Report an Issue from your Desktop

From your desktop computer, use the form below to enter a new service request or view other problems that have been reported. To report an issue:

  1. Select the Report tab.
  2. Type in the Street Address (or drag the map marker to the location of your issue).
  3. Click Next.
  4. Choose the correct Category from the drop-down menu.
  5. Answer all the required questions. The red asterisk (*) indicates a required field.
  6. Answer the optional questions to provide additional details to help DWSD understand the problem.
  7. Issue Title (required) will be prefilled. Enter a brief or detailed Description (optional), and attach an Image (optional).
  8. Click Submit.

Congratulations! Your issue has now been reported to the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department.

DWSD Support for Issues

DWSD staff will be notified of new issues daily. After you report an issue, you’ll receive email communication acknowledging your service request. You can always check the status of your issue online. Once the work is complete or the issue has been resolved, you’ll be notified by email as well.

Improve Detroit is NOT to be used for water or sewer emergencies. For urgent matters that require immediate attention, contact DWSD Customer Care at 313-267-8000 or our 24-Hour Emergency Service at 313-267-7401.
